Paragraph writing

In class we have been learning to group similar ideas into paragraphs.  Here are two I wrote about an important person to me.

Theo is my friend. He has brown hair that hangs over his ears.  It reminds me of a mop.  He has freckles all over his face.  His eyes are as brown as the brownest brown of all.  His skin is pale from staying inside playing the xbox.  

Theo is funny and always trying to crack jokes.  He doesn’t like exercise and he calls himself the laziest bub of all.  He has a quirky sense of humour just like me.

Water experament

What you will need:
1: A large bowl.
2: A glass mug (make sure it is bigger than the bowl).
3: A large rubber band.
4: Glade wrap.
5: Water.


Steps:
Steps
Put the water in the medium size bowl and fill it quarter of the way.
Put the mug right side up in your bowl.
Put the glad wrap over the bowl then seal it with some string or some rubber bands.
Put the bowl in the sun and wait for something to happen.

The results:
The sun heated up the water and it evaporated up towards the glad wrap. Condensation formed on the glad wrap. When water vapour became heavy it dropped in to the cup like rain. (precipitation)

Weekly Refection T2W10

What: Last week for Technology my group (the cooking group) made mac and cheese in a mug. I stirred the macaroni in the boiling water. On Friday He Puna Auaha and the senior school walked to Whanganui High School to watch a production, it was a parody of Snow Wight and the 7 dwarfs, but it was could Snow White and the 7 dudes. Last week we did a water experiment we put a mug in a bowl, filled the bowl with water then put glade wrap on top. 

So What: I learnt how to make cheesy sauce.

Now What: My goal is to get my work finished, I have not achieved this, so I am going to knuckle down and get some work done.

Weekly reflection T2W7

What: Last week for inquiry we had to make a poster. We were put in pairs and had to write a sentence of what we thought striving for accuracy means. Last week for art we had to put patterns together to make a house. Last week we stared a programme called ToonDoo were you could make comics.

So what: I  learnt how to do a Toondoo.

Now what: My goal is to get my work finished on time. I haven't done this. I will keep working on this.

straw houses

Yesterday for inquiry we were put in to groups and given some straw and blue tac and needed to build a sound structure. We were only allowed to use a pair of scissors as a tool. My team was pretty good at it, we made the 4 support beams stick to the ground Our structure stayed upright  it was going nowhere.

Weekly reflection T.2 Week 5

What: Last week had to draw a friend and write 5 or more things that a good friend is. Last Thursday we were divided in to 3 lines, the person at the front of the line scrunch up a peace of A3 paper and had to try and hit another peace of A3 paper. The more hits your team gets the smaller the peace of paper gets. Last week we did some farewells in Tereo Maori. 


So what: Last week I learnt an easy way to solve math questions.

Now what: My goal is to get my work finished on time. I don't think I have achieved this because I still go to work finishing.

I'm going  to the park, I'm getting there on bike. "Dad, what is the parks name?"I asked. "St Marks Park!" Dad had to shout because a large truck rumbled past. when we got there there was an ambience. "What's going on?" I asked. "Its just a drill." Said the driver. Then I went on the swing, Dad gave me a big push. "Weeeeeee!" Then we had lunch and went home. "That was fun. Can we do it again?" I asked. "OK" said Dad.

Hedgehog in your garden.

L.I. Can I locate and summarize the main ideas?
We made a google drawing about the main ideas from our book.


Hedgehogs are little creatures with spines, they have up to 7000 of them all most all of the body is covered in them, their head belly and chest are have brown and grey fur.

Hedgehogs are nocturnal, which means that they sleep all day and are awake at night

If you want hedgehogs in your garden, (they are good for eating garden pests like snails, caterpillars, etc.) then just leave some piles of leaves, long grass, and some food. But don't feed them bread and milk because this could be harmful to them. Try leaving out some crunchy peanut butter, muesli and tinned pet food.

Hedgehog babies are called hoglets, and are born litters.

If you do have hedgehogs in your backyard you must be careful not to leave out rubbish. Also don't put weed killers and other garden products around this may harm them.

Weekly Reflection T.2 W.4

What: Last week there was a big thunder storm and when I got home that day I learnt that the lighting actually hit the ground somewhere in Springvale! Last week we all got in a circle and were each given a piece of paper that had something that went in a house. We had to decide if it was compulsory to have it in a structure or optional. Last week two boys and a teacher from Whanganui City Collage came and talk about how great their school is. 

So what: I learnt how to do a haiku poem (like Ricky Baker in Hunt for the Wilder People).

Now what: My goal is to get my work finished on time, I don't think I have achieved this because I am still going to work finishing.

Thinking Interdependently

Weekly Refletion Term 2 week 1

What: In the holidays I went to Wellington museum (Te Papa) to see the Gallipoli war exhibition. It was so worth the 45 minute line up to get in. When you get in, the first thing you see is a massive general looking man on his side shouting and pointing a pistol at something. Then you go in a room with some maps and guns and a slide show. There were more rooms like this and more statues. In one room there was a cool 3D slide show that you had to wear 3D glasses like the ones at the movies. There was also a big touch screen thing on the wall that had pictures of bombs and bullets. In the middle was a skeleton. When you tap the bombs and bullets you could see what happened to the person. In another room there was another tap screen but in this one you could make a badge and send it to your email. There was another 2 screens, but they were not touch screen.  It just showed people in the trenches. And at the end there was a room where you could write a message on a paper poppy and throw it down to the feet of a soldier.

So what: I learnt about all the affects of all the bombs and shells.

Now what: My goal for this term is to get all of my work finish on time.

Weekly Reflection Week 11 Term 1

What: Last week we did 3D printing for technology. We had challenge to make a lego man. For Te Reo last week we had to ask a buddy how they are felling (E.G: Kei te pehea koe? and e pehea ana koe?). Last week we watched a video of the tail of the 3 little pig. We had a follow up activity. The activity was that we had to write a positive, negative, and interesting thing about each of the houses ( straw, sticks and bricks).

So What: I learnt a new Te Reo sentence.

Now What: My goal was to finish my work when it's meant to be finished. I don't think I have achieved this because I'v been to work finishing a lot.

T1 Week 8 Refection

What: Last Friday Rooms 7 and 14 came into Room 2 and we sung waiata. For H.O.M. last week we did some research on Ruia Morrison and how she mangers her impulsivity. For inquiry last week we did some building art.

So What: I learnt who Ruia Morrison is (shes a NZ tenas player).

Now What: My goal is to get my work finished. I'm getting better but there's a few thing that I need to work on.

What: last week we did swimming sports in my back stroke I came 1st, but in my free stile I came 2nd. we did technology I was in the group that did sanding. we also did inquiry for that we had to take photos of things we think are structures with the I pads  

So what: I learnt how to draw on the computer with coding on khan academy.  


Now what: My goal is to get my work finished when it's meant to be finished. I don't think I'v achieved this because I get work finishing allot.

Ruia Morrison

Ruia Morrison was the leading NZ women's tennis player in the 1950s to the 1960s and is still regarded as one of the country's best-ever tennis players. She was the first NZ woman to play at Wimbledon and reached the quarter-finals in 1957.
